In a world of mass-produced materials, there is something truly special about handcrafted silver. One of my favourite elements to work with in my jewellery designs is Hill Tribe silver—a material that carries both artistic and cultural significance.
Handmade by the Akha, Iumien, Lisu and Karen Hill Tribes of northern Thailand, this silver is known for its high purity, often containing 95-99% silver, compared to the 92.5% found in sterling silver. This higher silver content gives it a unique colour and a more malleable texture.
But beyond its beauty, Hill Tribe silver holds a deeper value. Each piece is created using traditional methods passed down through generations, supporting fair trade and sustainable craftsmanship.
For me, working with this silver is more than just a design choice—it’s a way to honour these artisans while integrating a material that aligns with my crystal therapy practice. When paired with gemstones and pearls, its high vibrational quality enhances their natural energy, helping the wearer attune to the rhythms of the universe and cultivate a deeper sense of balance and connection. As a metal linked to emotions, love, and healing, Hill Tribe silver serves as both a grounding and transformative presence in jewellery.
This is why I continue to work with Hill Tribe silver—its artistry, energy, and meaningful impact make it an invaluable part of my creations.
